Mr Gopaul Boodhan is the Mayor of Chaguanas. “Whatever success we achieve in life is due largely to the love, support, goodwill and best wishes of all those shoulders that we are able to stand upon in order to chart new horizon. I have had the good fortune to be blessed with the best parents, teachers and friends all of whom contributed in diverse ways in making me the person that I am today. As such, everything that was given to me has made me very grateful to others, so that I am always giving my best to the community and country in return”.
Mayor Boodhan commenced his early education at Longdenville Presbyterian School and then when on to Hillview College. His Advance Level studies were completed at the Extra Mural Department of the University of the West Indies where he then became a junior reporter with Trinidad and Tobago Express newspapers. Soon after that he started his own business offering services such as Advertising, Public Relations, Printing, Imaging and Allied Communications.
Mayor Boodhan said that his entire family has always been passionate about politics since the days of his grandparents. He entered the political arena in 1999 as the Local Government Representative for the electoral district of Montrose. He served as Deputy Mayor from 1999-2003 and 2010-2013 with the then Mayor Orlando Nagessar.
In November 2013 Mr Gopaul Boodhan became the Mayor of Chaguanas.
